Buying independence – case Kosovo/Maldives
Few weeks ago I wrote an article “Kosovo as private property”referring former Kosovo PM Haradinaj complaining that the country is transforming into private property of the leadership. The story got interesting follow-up about allegations that government officials of Maldives accepted a $2 million bribe in order for that state to recognize Kosovo independence.
The allegations were made at the beginning of March 2009 in Maldives by the opposition Islamic Democratic Party.The president of Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed, has ordered his police to investigate allegations. The Maldives foreign minister Ahmed Shaheed has also rejected the allegations as false. Sources: SofiaEcho and BalkanInsight
In transparency international’s corruption ranking Maldives hold place 115 in 2008 among 180 states in list.
According allegations government officials of Maldives – like FM Shaheed - accepted a $2 million bribe that was delivered by Kosovar businessman, Behgjet Pacolli, to recognise Kosovo. Behgjet Pacolli –a Swiss and Albanian citizen – is believed to be the world richest Albanian.His wealth has came quite legal sources unlike other Kosovo’s top leaders whos income is based drug trafficking, other organized crime or donations from radical Islam movements. Pacolli’s Swiss based Mabetex Group has had successful construction activities in Russia and Kazakhstan as well in Italy.He is founder of political party named “New Kosovo Alliance” (AKR) which came third in parliamentary election 2007. As politician Pacolli is a bit controversial among Kosovo leaders since he negotiated with Milosevic about peaceful solution in Kosovo 1998, he supported also negotiations with Belgrade about Kosovo status.
After
Maldives recognition Kosovo is recognised as independent by 56 out of
192 UN member states. Huge pressure and lobby is made mainly by U.S. to
countries who does not have yet made recognization. UN general assembly
send he whole case to International Court of Justice (ICJ) to ask its
opinion about the legality of the unilaterally declared independence.
So far Kosovo is a province of Serbia administrated as international
protectorate according UNSC resolution 1244.

This is fantastic! Multiple assertions and no evidence at all. The absence of logic is breathtaking. Why on earth would Kosovo pay 2m to the Maldives? Why would anyone? Does the foreign policy of the Maldives keep Kosovars awake at night? And the author has obviously been away from his desk- Kosovo is not a province of Serbia. It used to be. Kosovo is now an independent state and there isn't the remotest possibility that Serbia will ever exercise de iure or de fact authority in Kosovo ever again. It's over- get used to it.
I do not understand how the world is believing this lies anymore, or maybe not. Neither Russia or Serbia have changed since the cold war. The world has moved on since 70's and 80's apart from Russia and Serbia. Kosova is not province os serbia any more stop lying yourselves.

Allegations without evidence? Wow! Well we might as well allege that the author of this blog has a steady pay from the Serbian government. This allegation, however, seems more logical and believable. We are thus hard pressed to conclude that such despicable and racist propaganda can only be channeled through the fingers of Serbian typists.

Deep inside even Serbs know they are lies but you can't help it but sympathize with them. They still haven't gotten over how this supposedly martial race got pwned by the Ottoman Turks for 400 years without even putting a fight. I fully support the Maldives accepting the independence of Kosovo like US, UK, Arab countries and others. I guess, with if the people of Kosovo wants to become an independent country and the rest of the world (including UN, etc...) accepts it; I see no Problem to that.
What concerns me is the silly 2 million dollars story. I'm from the Maldives and I know who came up with the story from our end. It was bluffed by a brutal ex-cop called Omar Nazeer. He's a Osama-bin-Laden style hard-core mined person who calls himself a politician. His party's name is Islamic Democratic Party (IDP), which got only 1% votes from the Maldivian presidential elections 2009.
Some of the most notorious real cases of this Omar Naseer while he was a policeman in the Maldives are: breaking the spine of a youth named Mahir (who's now studying in UK under UK protection), other brutal police beatings to inmates and civilians under arrest, sexual molestation with young girls who were brought into police custody, misusing of police vehicles while on duty to pick on young girls under house arrest and other girls. There are many live victims and witnesses in the Maldives of these.
Please come visit the Maldives and know yourselves. Please don't beat about the bush on a story made up by a brutal ex-cop turned into a self claimed politician (i.e. Omar Naseer). Please go ahead with the independence of Kosovo. Please let the humanity take their decision to independence. Please support peace and tranquility all over the world.
PS: Omar Naseer is fully formed alliance with the ex-president and Asian longest served dictator Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom. Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has murdered a lot of innocent people in his 30 years of rein. Maumoon led the Maldives with an iron fist. If statistics are done, Maumoon would be same as Milosovich. Or maybe worst. Because in such a small country like the Maldives he had done so much of injustice to his own people. He has devastated our economy, land, social lives and introduced drugs to almost 70% of the youths. Also he had fooled the whole world by acting like the guy in the movie "The Last King of Scotland".
